Announcements included:
Please fill out the comment cards for the Hotel Chef as he would like to know what we would like to eat. Today’s chicken parmesan and salads were delicious. (This editor submitted a card asking for a platter of bread, cheese and sandwich fillings, allowing each person their own choice. It would be great accompanied by a nice soup.)
The Literacy Committee requests members sign up as Readers for the Summer Leap Program. Please recheck your emails for times available with Amy Anderson (Chris’ wife) leading this service project.
Thank you to Emily Cama for the wonderful job done on planning the Recognition dinner at the Harbor Hotel.
Max Eimiller gave us all a reminder regarding our BIGGEST FUNDRAISER OF THE YEAR – our Golf Tournament next Monday July 14 at the Moon Brook Country Club with a shotgun start at 11:30. We have 22 foursomes signed up but there is still room for 2 more and we always welcome more last-minute sponsors or folks who wish to donate raffle/basket items.
Also, there will be a Barbeque Picnic following the tournament that is open to all members and guests for $40/person beginning at 4:30-5:00. You are all welcome to come and congratulate, commiserate or console the golfers after the tournament.
Past-President Marion Beckerink presented a certificate to Mark Olson thank him for printing the club bulletin for the past year. It was a big help to Marion and a delight to the Club – thank you Mark!
Michelle announced she still has a few volunteer opens that need to be filled – contact her if you might be able to throw you hat in ring and help out – one need is a fundraising chairman, and there are others who are ready to help out with this very important committee, but are not in a position to be the leader. Please, please consider taking on this role.
ALERT, ALERT, ALERT! This Club desperately needs a host family for the young, male exchange student arriving from Switzerland in August. This hosting would last from mid-August to Thanksgiving and then he will move on to Chris Anderson’s family. It is necessary we determine this family IMMEDIATELY so important arrangements can be made for him with the government regarding his visa and with Southwestern High School. Please, please open your heart and home to this young man OR we will have to disappoint him and send him to another district club.
If you have any questions at all, please contact President Michelle or Youth Exchange Chairman Cheri Krull immediately so we can welcome this young man to our country properly.
Dewey Jones had the pleasure of presenting 50/50 winnings of $34.00 to Sue Jones - no funny business there as they are NOT related. Thank you for your service, Dewey!
Sergeant-at-Arms Doug Conroe fined Wayne Rishell for his prowess at a recent golf tournament.
Jason Sample gave a Happy Buck for coming in below 50 minutes at the Lakewood 10K to support the YMCA. He also donated to advertise the LIVCHQ salute to first responders on 7/17 at the Tarp Skunks game. Tickets have been bought out and everyone is encouraged to fill the stadium seats to honor all of these wonderful people who protect us.
Michelle Jones donated for the past week – where after the Recognition Dinner she was on vacation and totally off the grid – no phone, no computer, etc., and now she is diving in!
Dan Heitzenrater paid for a wonderful ribbon cutting event to celebrate the remodeling of The White Inn in Fredonia AND for receiving a plethora of baseball cards celebrating the Jamestown Jammers of old. (Dan was a collector, stopped, and is now diving back into collecting.)
Max paid for holiday relatives visiting from Chicago (he’s going to be an uncle in October) and for his girlfriend Sarah Pillitieri winning the Women’s Steeplechase golfing tournament at Moon Brook Country Club. Max served as her caddy and admitted he steered her wrong on a few putts…but she was smart enough NOT to listen.
Greg Jones paid for a gorgeous day boating on the upper lake and successfully putting his boat back in the lift. I was a witness, and I’ll give the landing a 10!

Here is a recent photo of Cheri and Milko Studenko from Paraguay, He attended SWCS in 2018-2019 and was hosted by the Kreinheders, the Yaggies and Brad Morris.
He attended college in Paraguay and Germany and has lived and worked in Spain. He is currently working in his father’s business in Encamacion, Paraguay.
He stopped by to quickly visit friends and hosts in our beautiful club region. This is what hosting an exchange student is all about…making dear friends for the rest of your life.
