***Rotarily Yours: July 21 - Correction

The Rotary Club's bonfire and singalong with children at Camp Onyahsa will take place this year on Sunday, August 10, not October 10 as originally stated in this week's newsletter. ***

Rotarily Yours – July 28, 2025

President Michelle Jones opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by the Star-Spangled Banner, led by Caítlín O'Reilly.

Sue Jones then gave this week’s invocation and also requested a moment of silence in memory of Lianne Edborg.

President-elect Caítlín O'Reilly then recognized the visiting guests: Rhianna Lingle and Meagan Washburn (from Chautauqua Institution, guests of Jim Smith); Hadley Weinberg (from the Brooklyn, Massachusetts Rotary Club) along with his guest, Ken Brown; and Heath Bounday (Youth Exchange Student from Tasmania, Australia).

ANNOUNCEMENTS

For announcements, Marion Beckerink announced that all dates and times for reading at the Jamestown Public Schools' Leap Summer Program had been filled. Michelle also indicated that the Rotary Club's bonfire and singalong with children at Camp Onyahsa will take place this year on Sunday, August 10 (not October, as erroneously indicated in last week's newsletter).

Max Eimiller was also on hand and once again announced the Golf Tournament fundraiser was a success and thanked all members for participating. He said the exact total will be in known in the communing weeks.

Michelle also announced that Club Service volunteers are still needed for set up and take down for several meetings, and the Invocation Committee is still seeking members to assist with the weekly invocation.

50/50

Wayne Rishell sold the winning 50/50 ticket to Heath Bounday, who won $45.

FINES/HAPPY BUCKS

Sergeant-at-arms Doug Conroe was not in attendance, so Greg Jones filled in. He levied one fine for every member who was in attendance, ate a Doubletree chocolate chip cookie, and enjoyed it. Happy Bucks were paid but several members, including Tori Irgang, Michael Dobbins, Amy Rholer, Becky Robbins, Heath Boudway, Diana Meckley, Greg Jones, Sue Jones, and Hadley Weinberg.

INDUCTION OF BOARD MEMBER

Near the end of the meeting, Michelle helped to swear in Dan Heitzenrater to the 2025-26 board. Dan was unable to attend the president's dinner on June 30 and so he took his oath at this week's meeting.

Following the induction, the meeting was adjourned!
Stories
Rhianna Lingle, violinist and Chautauqua music student
Following the recognition of guests, Jim Smith Introduced Rhianna Lingle, a violinist and Chautauqua music student, who was also selected as the Club's 2025 scholarship recipient. Rhianna was on hand to perform several pieces of music for the club.

Rhianna is an undergraduate student at the Cleveland Institute of Music, studying with Jessica Lee. She has explored numerous ensembles, genres, and historical periods of chamber music. Rhianna has attended the Domaine Forget de Charlevoix chamber music and solo programs, the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival, the Madeline Island Chamber Institute, and has been fortunate to work alongside renowned musicians David Alberman, Kerson Leong, David Requiro, and Tien-Hsin Cindy Wu, as well as the Callisto, Jupiter, Brooklyn Rider, and Borremeo quartets. Rhianna has performed as a soloist with regional orchestras in the Denver, Colorado area and is also an enthusiastic orchestral player, having assumed principal second violin and assistant concertmaster roles under the batons of Joann Faletta and Anthony Parnther during their guest tenures at the Cleveland Institute of Music.

Once Rhianna was finished with her performance, she answered several questions from members. The rest of the meeting then resumed.
