Today’s Chairwoman: President Marion Beckerink led the Club in the Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of the National Anthem.
The INVOCATION was given by Becky Robbins, which is worth sharing as it was referred to several times during our meeting. “We give thanks for the opportunity to be Rotarians. Rotarians dig wells from which we will never drink. We vaccinate children we will never meet. We restore eyesight for those we will never see. We build housing we will never live in. We educate children we will never know. We plant trees we will never sit under. We feed hungry people regardless of race or politics. We know real happiness, which as Albert Schweitzer once said: Can only be found by helping others. For this opportunity we give thanks.”

Also from President Marion, the Peace Pole gathering at JHS is postponed until Friday, 6/13 at 1:30. All Rotarians are invited.
Cheri Krull is still seeking a host family for an incoming youth student. Especially the need for one in the Southwestern School District beginning August 25th. Rotary is a reciprocal exchange program; to send students, we must host students. Please contact Cheri if you are interested or know someone who might be.
Max Eimiller announced the need for golf sponsors and basket donations. The golf tournament is July 14th with an 11:30 shotgun start. He also needs player information.
Come on folks – this is our Club’s MAJOR FUNDRAISER!
Heath Bounday, our youth exchange student from Tasmania, reported on his bike-a-thon around Niagara-on-the-Lake. He is exhausted, had lots of fun, but was also sad because most of the participants were leaving the exchange program for home.
JUNE BIRTHDAYS:
Joni Blackman said that we are about $1,000 short of making our goal to Rotary International. If you have not given your birthday donation, please do so before the end of the year which is approaching quickly. Joni proceeded to introduce all those with June birthdays: Dan Heitzenrater, 6/10; Kristen Melville, 6/11; Brandon Odell (6/13); Mike Bird (6/17); Jennifer Lundmark (6/26); Noah Goodling (6/29); and Ken Omeruo (6/29). Dan won the free lunch. Rotarians sang Happy Birthday.

FINES & HAPPY BUCKS:
Steve Sandberg was the only person fined when he didn’t have the correct answer to a Rotary Magazine question.
Deb Kathman proudly announced the Civic Engagement award at the R.H. Jackson Center given to her granddaughter, Kate Kathman.
Diana Meckley reported that Tim Edborg and Lianne returned home from California.
Ken Omeruo reported that today’s technology was working well.
Andy Goodell, along with Lisa and Alex went to Washington, DC and had a tour of the Capital Building which he heartily recommends to everyone. Their tour guide was Sydney Wendel, daughter of our County Executive and she really knows her stuff and then some.
President Marion announced that her son, known as Cautious Clay, begins his new tour as an American singer, songwriter and record producer. He will be getting married soon.
Kathy Burch announced she will be a grandmother! She is also looking forward to two upcoming weddings.
