Our club goals – keep involved, we have only two more for a Lighthouse award
Caitlin has joined the Rotary action group against slavery; attended the Lockport meeting on human trafficking which was very informative and much more intense than the presentation given at our noon meeting. She has also attended a District Council meeting.
We need 13 Rotary International goals and have attained 5 so far. Need 8 service projects – and have many in the pipeline such as the Coldest night of the year, salvation army red kettle drive, Halloween Riverwalk Halloween event, and voter registration (DEI).
The Rotary Leadership Institute is now online. There are 3 sessions to complete with multiple dates being given. They are available at a cost of $20 each. Pease attend - they are very informative and an excellent way for new members to learn more about every aspect of Rotary.
Caitlin finds we need a CRISIS MANAGEMENT document to have in case of an emergency so she will be working to get that together.
October 24 is WORLD POLIO DAY – please consider joining the Rotary International Polio Plus FUND and submit any idea to Caitlin about how we can celebrate that in our community.

Patricia Graves announced that the Literacy committee has decided to participate in the Jamestown Riverwalk Halloween Festival on October 24 from 5-7 where we will hand out books for children of all ages. Obviously, we need books, which can be purchased at Dollar Tree, Ollie’s, etc. and donated. Also we need bags of candy. If you can’t participate, please donate money. Used books can be given for the laundromat libraries. We will have a meeting to place our Rotary book plates inside each book.
DEI – Ruth Lundin announced we will participate in Voter Registration Day at JCC on 9/14 from 9-4 pm, join our booth and volunteers Patricia & Marion.
On 9/30 we will participate in the Community Connections Fair at JCC from12:00-2:00 to discuss RYLA, student exchange and all things Rotary with students.
On 10/21 – new student senators will be at JCC where they will meet with the students and have a student senators trivia event. Help is needed to come up with civic engagement trivia questions. Please join the committee or send your suggestions for questions to Ruth.
Brandon announced the Doubletree will be cosponsoring the October 10th Community Fun Day. Shut down Fourth St and have a dunk tank, hot dog/hamburger/chips for $1.00, a Bounce House and several retail booths/tables. We are invited to have a Rotary information table.
Rotarily Yours – Sue Jones PLEADED for help asking for volunteers to act as editors. She is requesting people sign up with her and volunteer for one week to write a WORD document describing what happened at the meeting and send it along with a photo of the speaker to Chris Anderson, who will send it out to the membership. Please contact Sue and she will explain how easy it is. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE CONSIDER TRYING THIS.
Youth Exchange – Cheri Krull needs drivers to transport the Max and Pia (Fredonia exchange student) to and from events in the Buffalo/Niagara Falls area. She will send dates ahead of time that she needs drivers. She knows drivers will be needed the weekend of Oct. 23. Max loves golf; would like to take a boat ride; plays soccer with Southwestern and is open to experience anything. Call him and invite him at 716.518.0919.
We are starting recruitment for next year’s outbound exchange student. We cannot send a student unless we have host families arranged to house a student – keep that in mind.
Emily Cama reported upon hosting Max at her house. You do NOT need to have children to host. Sophia Cama has been in France for three weeks. Sophia loves it, is making good friends and having a great experience.
Membership – Patricia Johnson has had her orientation and approvals by the Board. Any member who wishes to object to her membership has 10 days to submit any objections or comments to Caitlin.
If you haven’t seen a member in a while, call and invite them to join our weekly meeting.
Highway cleanup will be conducted October 3 with a rain date on 10/10. Meet at the Route 60 Park & Ride.
Mike Roberts – Sergeant at Arms fined Amy Rohler for the successful United Way Day of Caring with 80 people volunteering for 335 hours for United Way Day of Caring and working on 16 Projects in North and South County. Next year it will be held the second or third Friday in August.
Rhonda Johnson of Weber Knapp was VERY happy the fire at JMI was successfully extinguished without involving any other businesses. Thank you to the Falconer and Gerry Fire Dept.

Diana Meckley paid for the celebration of their 48th anniversary. They traveled to Mississippi & Alabama. For several weeks in blistering heat.
Marion Beckerink paid for the mesmerizing Dance festival and paid for John Lloyd and Randy Sweeney coming to visit.
Sue Jones paid for the Jackson after Dark – 25th anniversary celebration of the founding of the museum and initiating THE JUSTICE, a new amber, honey lager brewed by ‘Wicked Warren’. There was a free tasting Monday at Wicked Warren.
Ruth Lundin paid for Neighborhood welcome celebrations last night and next Wednesday.
John Bauman paid for the BILLS win.
Emily Cama paid for the wonderful production of Dear Evan Hanson at Lucille Ball Little Theatre! You can still see it this weekend.
