December 4, 2023 Rotary Meeting

This week Rotarians helped ready Books and Bibs packages for delivery to UPMC Chautauqua’s Maternity Department for distribution to newborn babies and their mothers.

Helpers included: Sally Martinez, Diana Meckley, Ruth Lundin, Jane & Doug Conroe, Pat Kinney, Steve and Pat Sandberg, Dan Overcash, Paulette Klein and Marion Beckerink.

The work included holiday music, treats and a most hard-working crew! They completed 516 assembled bags and placed Rotary book plates inside all the remaining 500 “Good Night Moon” books in stock. The bags will be ready to be stuffed with bibs and library card applications later.

Our literacy committee will continue to deliver 10 to 15 bags to UPMC Chautauqua each week for new mothers to share with their newborns.

Thus far, the mothers who have received our books, bibs and library card applications have been thrilled to begin their child’s reading journey with our Rotary Club’s support!

Sally looks delighted to place the 1300th book label in this book!

The Rotary Club of Jamestown held its annual luncheon meeting at First Lutheran Church with about 70 people in attendance. We recited the pledge of allegiance; the 4 Way Test; and Pastor Swanson gave the invocation.
President Ruth listed many announcements of upcoming activities.

Ginny and Vicki of Elegant Edibles served another delicious chicken and biscuit luncheon!

The following photos are of the attendees including Rotarians and many guests. The last three photos are of the A’Cappella Choir and finally the beautiful stained glass rosette window above the choir loft.

So sorry you missed the festivities, but we hope to see you for the Mini Golf Bar Crawl on Saturday beginning at 12:30 at the Ice Arena and the Club Holiday Party beginning at 5pm at the Ice Arena.

A great way to start the holidays!!!!
