Announcements:

Ruth Lundin mentioned that the Board has approved an international project proposed by Greg and Sue Jones for 1200 water Filtration system in rural Mexico. They will be working it as well as working project. They go into the mountains and install these systems. The cost is $1,500. David and Marissa Troxell may join them as well. 

Marion Beckerink is working on a draft pamphlet for prospective members showing Rotary in action.

Ruth mentioned that we should show people are reporting makeup meetings. Makeup can be part of attending other meetings, service projects, etc. Make sure you let Lisa Goodell about any makeup.  

Emily Cava of the Social Committee mentioned there is a Holiday party on 12/9 at the Northwest Ice Arena at 5:00 after the mini golf pub crawl from noon to 5:00.

Sharon Hamilton indicated the signup for greeters and 50/50 is full for the year because we don‘t have a lot of regular meetings until 2024. Greg and Sue Jones offered to cleanup after the meeting today.  

Ruth also mentioned the Board has decided not to raise the price of this lunch for the December 4 Acappella program at 11:00 at First Lutheran church, even though the cost for this event is closer to $25 

John Healey of the Nominating committee indicated that Lisa Goodell will be stepping down from her position of club Secretary effective the end of June.

Marion Beckerink brought up the Books and Bibs project is having a bag stuffing meeting on November 29 from 5-7 at the Rotary office.

New Member Induction:

Kenneth Omeruo was sworn in as a new (returning) member by President Ruth. Becky Robbins was the sponsor. 

Kenneth is from the Igbo tribe of Nigeria. He moved to Jamestown in August of 2014 and became a US citizen in 2018. Kenneth holds a BS degree in Microbiology Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Nigeria. While Kenneth was living in Nigeria he began Emerging Media a tech focused media and publicity company which counted tech companies from Nigeria, US, UK, Israel South Africa and Dubai amongst its clients.  

Kenneth started the Nigerian Innovation summit, TechTrends Africa blog and African Innovation Academy which are a few avenues to champion technology, innovation and Entrepreneurship in Africa. He is also a member of International Society for Professional Innovation Management which is the largest global community dedicated to innovation management. Here in Jamestown, Kenneth has worked at Cummins and Weber Knapp and now manages his rental properties while spending more time raising a family. As a former Rotarian, Ken assisted Chris Anderson in website and other communication projects.  

Ken indicated he was pleased to be joining the club and the camraderie it represents.

Youth Exchange: 

Cheri Maytum-Krull brought the Rotary Exchange youth weekend with exchange students from the district. Ten amazing kids from the district were involved. They met Saturday morning at St. Luke’s and then went to the National Comedy Center. They also went out to dinner, a movie, and ice skating and bumper cars. Cheri thanked Marion Beckerink for being there the Lisa and Chris Anderson. Kelly and Keith Martin from the arena. The Northwest arena staff was very helpful.
