Stacey Hannon introduced Kristin Melville, new Executive Director for WCA Foundation in Jamestown.  Kristin grew up in Jamestown and returned to the area after spending 25 years in Maine as a fundraising professional for hospitals and  health care centers.
Born and raised in Jamestown, Kristin’s grandparents were Swedish immigrants, her dad was a retired Jamestown police officer who later managed, in his retirement, Midway Sate Park and Long Point State Park,  and her mother was a surgical nurse at the WCA Hospital for 30 years.
Kristin is a graduate of Jamestown Community College and Fredonia State University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in English/Journalism. She has been the chief fundraiser and consultant raising more than $50M in capital campaigns ranging from hospice centers, The Salvation Army - Northern New England Division, The YMCA, social service organizations, and the Maine Health Hospital system. She and her husband live in Jamestown, New York.
Kristin gave an overview of WCA Foundation and its importance to the community and UPMC Chautauqua.
The WCA Foundation investment portfolio is valued at more than $19M, comprised of 48 endowed funds. The WCA Foundation provides $5.25% of their investment earnings to UPMC Chautauqua through annual grant requests, 1% is reserved for administrative overhead. Last year they funded over $600,000 in grant funds for medical equipment, patient care, and staff education. The WCA Foundation is positioned to give their annual contribution to the hospital this year, with another record setting contribution.
Jamestown is a very different place when Kristin was here but many thing remain the same.  Innovation, kindness, hope, good neighbors, and generosity are the hallmarks of Jamestown.  Those things have not changed.
WCA Foundation funds certain initiatives at UPMC Chautauqua and is a fiduciary for all the funds held at the foundation. It is very important to have a strong hospital in Chautauqua County.
Kristin plans to join Rotary in January 2022.
