Rich Morrisroe is the part-time City Attorney for the City of Dunkirk, New York. He also runs the Law Office of Richard J. Morrisroe, a general practice law firm with offices in Dunkirk and Buffalo that specializes in real estate, landlord/tenant law, criminal defense, and civil litigation, including divorce and family law cases. Rust Belt born and raised, Rich is originally from East Chicago, Indiana. He is of Irish-Puerto Rican heritage, speaks fluent Spanish, and lived in Buffalo for over 20 years.
 
Rich relocated his family to Dunkirk in 2018, where he lives with his wife Iris, his mother in law Petronila Fernandez and two sons, Gabriel, and Nicholas. Prior to returning to school and practicing law, Rich was a banker, a Spanish teacher, an executive director of a housing nonprofit agency, a Realtor, a drug prevention specialist, and a legislative aide for the Buffalo Common Council. He graduated cum laude from both Amherst College and the University at Buffalo Law School.
 
Rich has navigated between the private sector, public sector, and the nonprofit sector over the years. He also has considerable government experience: intern for two summers for Congressman Peter J. Visclosky (D-IN) during college, legislative aide for nearly two years with the Buffalo Common Council, Executive Director, Buffalo’s Commission on Citizens’ Rights and Community Relations. Rich now heads Dunkirk’s Law Department as Dunkirk City Attorney.
