December 14, 2020 Rotary Holiday Party

President Joni Blackman jovially welcomed everyone to the Rotary Zoom Holiday Party. Everyone was in a festive mood, especially Cheri Krull who wowed us with her backgrounds and with her skill at transforming her physiognomy to become first elfish, then reindeeresque. The weather inside was delightful.
The first order of business was a memory test. Each person was asked to talk about a special family tradition. It was great fun to hear the stories. Some attending had similar “best memories”, others were unique. The Troxells have perhaps the best. They are normally in Thailand, where they celebrate Christmas and Hannukah with Buddhist candles. The Lloyds shared that, in Christmases past, they have had 23 stockings to hang (and fill!) Favorite food traditions include latkes, pepparkakor, pickled herring, and gin and tonic.

Next, thanks to Sue Jones, there was a wonderful program of “holidays past” with photos from several past parties. It was great to see all those faces!

Finally, there was a rousing 3 rounds of trivia. Thanks to the fact that some of us could not help but share our answers with our spouses, thus tipping our hands, everyone scored very well. Randy won the first round, Ruth and the Troxells tied in the second round. Does anyone remember who won the third?

Let’s see how you might have done.
1. What two things do bad boys get as presents?
2. In “Frosty the Snowman” what was Frosty’s nose made out of?

Thanks to Sauce, Labyrinth and Crown Street Roasting Company for providing gift certificates for the winners.

A special shout out to "Galaxy Note 9" aka Dan Overcash, who was bell ringing during the event!

The group wished each other a wonderful holiday season and logged off.

REMINDER: Monday, December 21 at 12:15 is the Annual Meeting. Then a presentation by Sydney Wendel, Rotary Exchange Student to the Czech Republic 2020-2021.
